Getting a kick out of Life.

Pain: Out of nowhere.

Sometimes even good intentions aren’t enough. Out of nowhere, things can really get in the way…

Like the sharp end of a chicken enclosure, as I bent down with a rock to cover a hole (that some of the hens were escaping out of).

I hit myself with it. But somehow a little bit of blood yesterday, on a Saturday evening, was something to smile about; we had just returned from a get together at the lake and it had been raining beautifully.

bandaid face -small-right It was the day after a first date (with someone I’ve gotten to know through five years of friendship!). I was feeling good, even with the pain, and I was tended to by him; together we bandaged my forehead.

He said it would probably heal quickly since it was fresh. When I had a chance, I took a quick pic inside his house. Later on I’d forget I had it on and I’d rub my forehead – the band-aid was nice and smooth to the touch.

cut forehead -small-left I took it off the next day. The cut was red but healing. The sun will sure soften the scar for months to come. But another way to see it would be that living a shared memory with someone special may soften the spirit in a good way.

In other words, pain may appear at any point of our lives but it is up to us how we ultimately respond to it. Positively, and alone… or with others?

I guess it depends on the situation, but in the long run it seems like true healing is brought on by being with others.

Life is beautiful – it can hurt but, if you’re open to it, it sure heals.
